Constitution of the Aberavon Angling club
Article1
The name of the Association shall be the Aberavon Angling Club, formally known Cwmavon sac, all assets have been transferred to the newly named club
Article 2 Aims of the club are to promote angling and conservation, to promote coaching and raise monies for registered charities throughout South Wales
The aims of the club shall be to educate our members on conservation, to increase junior membership year on year, to coach and improve skills of all members, to encourage anglers to fish safely and provide comprehensive liability insurance at a reasonable cost.
Article 3 Membership
3.1 Membership is open to the public/club regardless of age, religion, ethnicity or political beliefs each applicant will be judged on their own merits by the committee of the club, provision of membership will be available to less abled persons.
3.2Any eligible person shall become a member of the club on payment to the club of the appropriate membership fee, the amount of which shall be determined annually by the committee of the club.
Article 4 The Committee
4.1A committee shall conduct the business of the Club.
4.2The committee of the Club shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting, or, if necessary, at an Extraordinary General Meeting.
4.3The committee shall consist of the following members: - The Chairman the Treasurer, the Secretary [etc.] All members of the committee shall be required to be members of the Clubfor at least 1 year.
4.4Chairman
The Chairman will chair meetings and ensure correct protocol during meetings; all questions will take place via the chair who will also have a casting vote when required.
4.5Treasurer
The Treasurer will manage the financial affairs of the Club. He/She will maintain the-financial records of the Club and provide an update to the committee each quarter. He/She will prepare and present to the Club the end of year accounts and treasurers report for the Club. Two Auditors selected by the membership will audit the books and present their findings to the committee
4.6Secretary
The Secretary shall keep the non-financial records of the Club, including the official membership list, and manage the correspondence of the Club and submitting the end of year report.
4.7 Other committee roles at the clubs discretion

4.10Committee Meetings
4.10.1Meetings of the committee shall be held at least monthly during the year. members of theclub shall be entitled to vote at such meetings.
4.10.2The quorum for a meeting of the committee shall be [three] committee members.
4.10.3Meetings of the committee shall be convened by the Secretary. At least two weeks’ noticeof a committee meeting shall be given by the Secretary to the members of the committee.
4.11Term of Office of the Committee
The committee shall hold office from the 1st March subsequent to their election until the 30th April the following year. Applications or nominations for committee post should be submitted in writing to the club secretary at least two weeks in advance
Article 5 General Meetings
5.1General Meeting Annual
5.1.1The Annual General Meeting of the club shall take the 2nd Wednesday of March, at a time to be determined by the committee of the Association.
5.1.2 No less than 14 days’ notice of the Annual General Meeting shall be given. The date and time of the A.G.M. shall be announced to the membership via the Web site
5.2 Extraordinary General Meetings
5.2.1 An Extraordinary General Meeting of the club may be convened to:
(i) Hold an election to fill a vacancy on the committee, should one arise
(ii) Consider a proposal to amend this constitution or any other governing instrument of the club
(iii) Address any other circumstance not provided for in this constitution.
5.2.2.An Extraordinary General Meeting shall be convened:
(i) By majority decision of the committee; or
(ii) On foot of a submission to the committee of the club of a petition signed by not less than [six] members of the Club.
5.2.3No less than 28 days’ notice of an Extraordinary General Meeting shall be given. The date and time of the E.G.M. shall be published on the website for the membership.
Article 6 Election of the Committee
6.1The committee of the club shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting.
6.2The Secretary shall act as returning officer for the elections. Where the secretary intends to be a candidate in any election a returning officer who is not a candidate in any election, shall be appointed by the committee.
6.3All members of the club shall be eligible for election to the committee.
6.4Candidates for each position on the committee of the club must be proposed and seconded by members of the club at the A.G.M.
6.5All members of the club shall be entitled to vote in the election of the committee.
6.6The election of members of the committee shall take place by show of hands at the A.G.M. Where the votes obtained by any candidate exceed the votes obtained by any other candidate for that position, he/she shall be deemed elected to that position.
Article 7 Resignations from the Committee
7.1The resignation of any member of the committee shall be instituted by a letter of resignation to the Secretary of the club. In the case of the resignation of the Secretary, resignation may be instituted by a letter of resignation to the Chairman.
Article 8 Management of Finance
8.1The finances of the club shall be managed by the Treasurer and Secretary of the club.
8.2 No member of the committee of the club shall receive remuneration from the club, or use their office for personal financial gain.
Article 9 Amendments to the Constitution
9.1 Amendments to this constitution may be made at an Annual General Meeting or an Extraordinary General Meeting of the club.
9.2 Such amendments to this constitution as may be approved by an Annual General Meeting or an Extraordinary General Meeting of the club shall require the formal approval of the Members before taking effect.
Article 10 Dissolution of the Association
10.1The club may be dissolved by a two-thirds majority vote of its membership at a general meeting. The Association shall fall into abeyance should it fail to validly elect a committee for [two] successive years.
10.2 On dissolution of the club, its assets shall be realised and donated to charity agreed by the membership at the time
Article 11
Disciplinary
Any member who brings the club into disrepute will have his/her membership cancelled by the committee, all disciplinary matters will be confirmed in writing,
Appeals
Any member has the right to appeal against a disciplinary matter, this can be done in writing to the club secretary within 10 days of being informed of the intention of a disciplinary, all members are entitled to representation of their choice as long as the representative is a member of Aberavon angling club, the appeal will be heard within 14 days of receipt of the appeal letter
